BLACK KNIGHT FOOTBALL CLUB Mission
Black Knight Football Club (BKFC) is committed to building championship clubs on the pitch and in the community. The group’s multi-club model allows it to capitalize on opportunities and efficiencies in football and business operations, player development and community engagement.
Created in 2022, BKFC is led by Bill Foley, Cannae Holdings and select limited partners. The minority ownership group is led by award-winning actor, director and producer Michael B. Jordan.
The acquisition of AFC Bournemouth of the Premier League in December 2022 marked group‘s first investment in football. That 100% ownership was followed shortly thereafter by significant minority investments in FC Lorient (France) and Hibernian FC (Scotland). In the summer of 2024 the group’s A-Leagues expansion franchise, Auckland FC, took the pitch in New Zealand’s largest city.
In each of BKFC’s endeavors, the group maintains a focus on the player and supporter experience, connection to each community and promotion of playing opportunities at all levels. BKFC has a fundamental commitment to providing the investment and resources necessary to build competitive clubs across the globe. Among BKFC’s areas of emphasis:
First class facilities: From competition venues to training grounds, BKFC is committed to providing players and supporters with state-of-the-art facilities to improve, perform and enjoy world-class football.
Player pathways: BKFC’s multi-club model facilitates player pathways to success, allowing each athlete to reach their fullest potential and compete at the highest level possible.
Successful academies: BKFC places a premium on the importance of developing talent within its own ranks, investing in academies and prioritizing their success at each member club.
Youth football opportunities: As part of its commitment to the communities it serves, BKFC seeks to increase football participation at all levels and amongst all people.
The efforts of BKFC are informed by Foley’s sporting success in other endeavors, most notably the Vegas Golden Knights National Hockey League franchise that won the Stanley Cup in 2023, its sixth season of play – just as Foley had boldly proclaimed before the team first took the ice. The first major professional sports team in Las Vegas, the Golden Knights have established a powerful bond with the community while being recognized as one of the NHL’s top franchises, on and off the ice.
Foley’s “Always Advance, Never Retreat” mantra is drawn from his experience at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and reinforces the commitment to building champions on the pitch and in the community.
