Celebrating its 125th season in 2024-25, AFC Bournemouth is based in Kings Park, Boscombe, a suburb of the city of Bournemouth on the south coast of England. The Cherries’ men’s squad has competed in the Premier League for three straight seasons and eight of the last ten. Both the men’s and women’s teams enjoyed the best seasons in their history in 2023-24. 

History

Founded in 1899 as Boscombe Football Club, the team played its first season in the Bournemouth and District Junior League. The club played its first two seasons in Castlemain Avenue, Pokesdown. In 1905, they advanced to senior amateur football.

The club signed its first professional player in 1910, Baven Penton. Also, that year, they moved to Dean Court, named for local business man J. E. Cooper-Dean.

The club changed its name in 1923 to Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic Football Club. That same year, the club moved to a newly created Third Division South.
